Style of play.

I've just been thinking about this ? Is style of play a valid excuse to not perform. I hear much talk of carrol leaving cuz he doesn't fit the style of play. LFC have never played long ball, is that a good reason for carrols woefull time here. Or does it show that he isn't a good player. Ibrahimovic has played for 6 teams and has been worth 220mil of transfers. He has done it for every style of play, to me that is class, succeeded in holland Italy and barca. And back on the point can world class players perform outside their style, could messi succeed at stoke?? Idk I'd like to give carrol the benefit of the doubt that styles are a valid excuse not to perform, but then again world class players get it done right?

@Madridred99 Downing, Lescott, Johnson were at the Euros, Barry was picked but got injured and Heskey was picked in the 3 or 4 squads before the Euros. I think Henderson was poor last season but was played out of position and has potential, Terry has been top quality over the years but his time is coming to an end, same for Gerrard

@Madridred99 Fair enough thats your opinion think its a bit harsh after one season and disagree but its your opinion. On the English thing, Emile Heskey is English, he is a donkey, I think Glen Johnson is a massively overrated right back, Stewart Downing isn't great, nor is Barry, never rated Carragher that highly, didn't rate Lescott until this season, Zat Knight is a terrible centre back. So theres quite a few English players that I don't rate, kind of blows your argument out of the water. You not think his goal against Sweden was a great header? Not think he was great at Newcastle?

@Doozers20 In my opinion,Andy is sh!t,the only reason nobody slaggs him off is because he is english.If he was spanish or anywhere else you would slagg him off more than anyone can imagine.

people admire Barca playing style so much bc it's extremely difficult. i use to play college soccer, the thought process to play one and two touch football is extremely difficult, from the physical aspect to the mental. Carroll doesn't have it in the feet to play the style and the whole concept of the Barca style is interchangeable position. Carroll can't play the wings nor in the midfield. wish he could.

@Madridred99 I think he got 4 goals? And RVP got maybe 26? He struggled to settle but in my opinion still gave good performances whenever I saw him, not everything is about goals, he was a handful. I remember Newcastle beating Sunderland 5-1 (I think) and Andy Carroll scored 0 goals in that game but got man of the match because he was such a handful and created most of the goals. You want to show me where I said he was world class? He's nowhere near Van Persie at the minute, Van Persie has also had 7 or so extra seasons in the top flight, was anyone going on about him 6 years ago? Couldn't care less about sponsorships but I will see that AC Milan don't tend to monitor duds. Again, his header against Sweden to me shows that he has some quality

@Doozers20 and how many goals did he score last season comparing him to,for example,RVP??? Cuz you said that he is world class,so why not compare him to another world class player. And one last thing,world class players have contracts with big companies like Pepsi,but i havent seen Andy in any adverts,so what do you have to say to this then???????

World class players would succed in a style of play that they are not used to.In my Opinion, Carroll is ####,LFC fans want him to stay only cuz he is English.If he was spanish,he would be treated like ####.

Did you honestly just say you don't know if Messi could do it for Stoke? Like seriously Messi. That is the most moronic thing ever.
I'm not sure Ibrahimovich was a success at Barca, I know they won the league but he was shipped off the next season for a third of what he cost Barca because he didn't fit in with their style (same as what you are saying about Carroll). Carroll in my opinion is a quality young player who is playing in the wrong era (a lot of teams looking to play like Barca)
