Roy Hodgson: The new England manager!
Roy Hodgson
The FA are going to reveal Roy Hodgson as the new England Manager at 4pm today. Which means no Harry Redknapp. Im honestly very disappointed as we all know his style of football is play for a draw and hope for anything else. Why did they pick him and where can England finish with him in charge?

SirHarry is quality IMO @liam, but world class he is not. I think he will continue to deliver good results at Spurs if they keep him, but the Hodge is the man for the England job. Up Pompeii!!

Getting Switzerland to No.3 in World Rankings is impressive. Its actually refreshing that FA have gone with a less sensational appointment. Might calm things down a bit. If Redknapp was made manager there would be huge pressure on him immediately cos we'd all expect England to win at Euros. He might also be able to change ways of likes of Rooney.

@Hybridism Its true mate, All roads lead to Roy on this one. Harry can't even secure Spurs back to back Champions League campaigns, yet this is the man the nation want to appoint??
Do me a favour!

@liam am luvving the banter - there's too much cussing lately. SirHarry is a proven club manager, but his action with Spurs shows how his seasons at the top usually end. If SirHarry can't correct it at this level, maybe you are right about his international potential. LordHodgson is the connoisseurs choice - an acquired taste!!

@Hybridism This Harry talk was really getting on my back!! The man hasnt got a clue how to manage on the international stage!! The English NAtional team job is a high pressured job. Scrutinised at every point.. Even when you win you arent safe from a roasting by the media!! Roy has to win games and I feel sorry for him because he's already on the back foot and at a disadvantage because the whole of England wanted Harry. Winning games will only turn the tide for him. To be honest, I dont think England will achieve much in the Euro's anyway, but better to send Roy than Harry as the leader. People need to see it like this... Would you hire somebody to run your business who had NO experience in a similar role? Never managed in the same way EVER before, then expect them to do a good job? The England job comes with no hooney-moon period, especially in this case where the Euro's are starting immediately. I must admit I thought Harry was going to get it and I was getting ready to slate the F.A in here if they did... lucky for them they didnt

~~@liam incisive as usual. Men like Hodgson are rare, humility and capability are great qualities in a leader.

Harry couldnt achieve as much as Roy has as a manager unless he was playing Championship Manager footy simulator! Look at Roy's CV.. He's experienced at this level. I dont know why people are saying Harry should of had an interview?? Why interview him when he's got no chance of getting the job?? If he's not on your short-list its all just a waste of time isnt it?? Harry isnt tactically good enough.. Roy's taken a very average Switzerland team to 3rd in the FIFA rankings.. he deserves respect which people haven't been giving him! Do you really want to see HArry trying to pick his wits against Laurent Blanc of France?? I mean is that REALLY what people want to see??
I'm telling you that could get real Lionel (Messy
) This job was way out of rag & bone man Harry's depth! Could you imagine the kind of people Harry would probably give Caps to for England??
I'm glad common sense prevailed and they didnt give it to Harry. International management is a different ball game which HArry has no clue how to even get started in! Being a manager of your National team is a representation of your country and the Association of the team, the F.A didnt want to be represented by somebody like Harry. It would totally send out the wrong message! The people wanted Harry, but the people dont know whats best on this one. Well done to the F.A on this one. He was the only qualified Englishman who could do the best job possible I think. People that doubt Roy's credentials, please google him and check his experience out!!

@ateeq We didnt give him a chance because we were 19th after 12 league games, out of the carling cup after home defeat to Northampton, he bought Poulsen and Konchesky, left Agger on the bench (so he almost wanted to leave), got us linked with players like Carlton Cole and alienated the fans. He did a shietty job for us. Simple.

@Baldersmith Yh, and I have seen this from Africa aswell. But this is because they are much poorer than us and appreciate stuff. Any country with the same kind of economy as England, have the same kind of attitude.
