@slufsar maybe not but whose to say, United should have been 3-0 up before City scored 1

@Doozers20 Was merely stating that I think City has more in them and that this season was a one off. However, I think every great side need one quality addition or they will feel like they've stranded. Maybe not lucky against City, but I'm not so sure the gap would've been so big hadnt RvP scored that deflected free kick.

@slufsar Lucky at Stamford Bridge, maybe slightly lucky at Anfield, City were very lucky to even be back in the game at the Etihad though. You go on about poor form of their 4 best players and say City haven't been poor. They haven't had a terrible season results-wise being 2nd in the league but I've not been impressed with many City performances I've seen, and as far as the FA cup goes, they weren't exactly tested until the semi-final.

@Doozers20 Well, its not just injuries, but poor form on key players aswell. Kompany, Aguero, Silva and Toure is undoubdetly their 4 most important outfield players, and none of them have had a good season. Any team would suffer, but I think it has effected their morale too much aswell. With that said, you cant really say they've had a terrible season if they win the FA cup and finish 2nd. I think United won the mental battle in their games at Anfield, Stamford Bridge and Etihad. All were lucky and they looked impossible to catch after that. Not taking anything away from it tho.

@slufsar to be fair I never saw 1 do it but a team such as United shouldn't either in my opinion. Even if they did have far more injuries than citys this season

I think City's manager is inadequate. Their squad is better than United's, not only this season but last season too.

@slufsar a team such as city's should never use injuries as an excuse

Injuries and form to key players as Aguero, Kompany and Toures is the main reason. RvP hasnt been that awesome this season. Was better last season.

I think him not going to City was key to united's success

Hard to say, of course Van Persie has been an influence, but City have been terrible at times, would Van Persie have improved that?

No doubt RVP has been a key player in winning United the Premier, but it's still a team game and if the rest of the United team hadn't played well then it could have effected the RVP performance. If he'd gone to City I agree the title race would be closer, but City players have had poorer performances than last season, would this have effected RVP performance. I'm of the option that none of the chasing pack this season have been consistent enough to put enough pressure on United to make them nervous.

But on to the point I think this a great discussion. It's been an odd season in that we knew four months ago who won the title. I think half of the reason for the big gap is that city gave up so long ago, had city had rvp I think the gap would have never opened that far, that's for certain. But I think citys main problem wasn't personel, it was consistency. Whereas united's key strength wasn't personel(not saying they aren't all great players) but the reason they have been so good is consistency. Maybe rvp could have flipped all that but I'm not so sure. Great discussion, hard to say.

Just remember this was early in the window, and United would probably sign someone else.

A bit shocking that Cavani isnt here. 25 goals in 22 starts this season. He's arguably the best in the world, but hasnt even made the list.
