Testimonials normally take place once a player has retired or near the end of his career with their current club, not disputing the fact that Gerrard deserves a testimonial but now ? shouldn't the celebrations wait until he has retired ? Going back 6-10 years ago you would never hear of a testimonial for a footballer who is still playing at the top of his game.

@IanRush @TittleTan testimonials are usually awarded for 10 years service, it's therefore hard to see how they're thrown around too easily
