Terrible decision. The same question arises as with the other managerless premier league clubs, who would replace AVB at Spurs? Don't think there many if not any top class managers available at the moment

I think it was the right decision, after a shocking defeat to Liverpool, losing 5-0 at home is never acceptable. Not just that though, they are underachieving performance wise with players they have, and AVB wasn't getting the best out of players such as Lamela and Soldado. Reports tonight he's in for the West Brom job...

@releasethekraken I wouldn't say lazy criticism, but i get what you're saying. But that's like anything, you can allude to certain conclusions by analysing other aspects - for example the motivation levels on the pitch, the sideline actions from the manager n so forth - to me it just transpired onto the pitch that AVB just really isn't a motivator - and arguable hasn't got the best out of any player he's managed. I count Bale as being 'moulded' by redknapp.

@LawrenceQPR23 it always makes me laugh when football fans say managers 'aren't man motivators', like they've seen what the manager is like first-hand. unless you've actually been in the tottenham dressing room how could you possibly know that? just a lazy criticism of a manager IMO.

@MB_Ktubes he'll get a job probably have to work his way back up though

@Doozers20 Neither do I but still he's young and "ambitious" so I'm sure some clubs will take a look at him.

@MB_Ktubes I don't see him going to a top team

@Doozers20 Well I'm just making the point that he's been sacked by two high profile clubs that saw him as the one and I imagine he was making a pretty packet. I'm sure he's upset that he has been sacked but he won't be out of work long.

He deserved to go, he is not a man motivator. He is too much 'statistics and tactics' great squad poorly managed. You can't play soldado (a poacher) in spurs system. Holtby, sigurdsson, eriksen, dembele are all number 10's in my eyes with the slight exception of dembele. AVB can now go back to portugal, he has failed miserably in the PL

@MB_Ktubes sometimes it's not about the money though. Presuming he had some sort of project going I'd be gutted to have mine halted half way through, not to mention his reputation.

@TittleTan I'm sure his pocket doesn't mind. I imagine he'll get some more compensation from this.

@Doozers20 doesn't natter whether he's happy or not, tottenham won't want to sell to a rival and they've got him under contract

@releasethekraken possibly not but he is reportedly unhappy there.

@Doozers20 i don't think they'd sell to united anyway. at the moment united are the only one of the top 4 competitors below them, improving them would just be stupid, especially mid-season.

@releasethekraken Like I said, think he'd compliment Carrick and he would come but would depend how much Spurs want.

@Doozers20 yeah i think box-to-box is probably his best suited role looking at his attributes. he'd be very good in a counter-attacking team. maybe part of the reason tottenham have been so much better away from home than at home so far this season.

@releasethekraken I think he has the attributes and energy to play box to box, United do play more on the counter attack too, I'm just really thinking about players who aren't playing Champions League at the minute and I rate Dembele, think he'd compliment Carrick. I would like a player to play in between the attacking mids and defensive mid, that can move forward with the ball, something Dembele can do, I've been wanting Anderson to get a few chances under Moyes as he's the only United player that can do such things on his day, certainly can't have been worse than the midfielders on display againt Everton and Newcastle. Saying that, Cleverley has played well last couple of games.

@Doozers20 i'm not convinced dembele is actually that effective. looks very impressive, insanely talented, but actually doesn't influence a game too much. can go past a player so easily, but when you play him deep that doesn't really achieve anything unless you're on the counter attack. but at the same time if you play him further forward he doesn't really have an eye for goal, scores very few goals. if he went to united and you played him in the midfield (especially at home) i don't think he'd really help in breaking teams down. so i'm not sure he'd be a good signing for united. think he still needs to find his position, needs a coach to do something different to bring the best out of him IMO.

Think also the way spurs have started is maybe a lesson to clubs like liverpool in how to replace a star player. if/when suarez goes for a massive fee i hope we don't do a spurs and spend the money to sign about 20 players to replace him. need to keep continuity in the team as much as possible. no more than 2 or 3 first team starters in during each window. never know - spurs might still have a good season, could still finish top 4 quite easily - but all the same i don't like the idea of a total overhaul in such a short space of time. tends not to work too well - QPR last year under hughes, tottenham so far this season, sunderland under di canio too (although it's hard to say whether that was actually due to di canio being a mentalist).
