Barca Transfer Ban, Thoughts?

Just been announced today that Barcelona have been hit with a 14 month transfer ban for breaching underage player transfer regulations meaning they won't be able to buy or sell players until Summer 2015. I think it's right that this happened as FIFA have layed down the rules for one the world's biggest clubs and enforced punishments correctly.

It does leave Barca with a problem though as long standing goalkeeper Victor Valdes is set to leave at the end of the season leaving a huge gap in Barca's starting XI in which they were hoping to fill this summer with German keeper Marc-André Ter Stegen (reportedly). Presuming the transfer ban isn't lifted upon an appeal by the club, Barca won't be able to sign a new keeper for a whole season most likely resulting in below-average long term understudy Jose Pinto becoming the first choice keeper for a season.

What are your thoughts? Will Barca appeal to FIFA's decision? do you think the transfer ban is just?

If they've broken the rules, then they must be banned. but i think of all the top european clubs barcelona are the best placed to deal with such a ban, since they promote so many players from their academy anyway.

Probably get overturned as Barca are appealing.

I think Valdez could possibly be convinced to do one more season under the circumstances, never rated him much anyway though to be fair.

Couldn't have happened at a worse time for them. Chelsea successfully appealed in 2010, but that was due to the other club, Lens dropping it or something. 10 players in this so won't happen. Apparently if they appeal they have a brief period to do deals.

Also have you heard some of the arguments they're trying to use? Apparently it's okay because La Masia is a model football academy... CLEARLY NOT.
