Bent out for Season - is McLeish looking over his shoulder?

Darren Bent has been ruled out for 3months with an ankle injury sustained v. Wigan, and with Robbie Keane heading back to L.A are Villa completely out of the running of relegation candidates?

At least if Villa don't improve I think McLeish will get the sack. It seems like Kean has a job for life - I still think he knows something dodgy about Venkys so they're scared...

LOOOOOL @walshi1987 aaaaargghh Venkys are crud!! But you're proper honest @fillmyboots - why did they take the guy who got his team relegated on to their books - defo not a good advert for the club. Time for Lerner to learn a few lessons about the game....lol

@fillmyboots I have one word to that question VENKYS!

@Hybridism You may well be right but IMO the blame lies with Lerner. He has no clue how to run a football club. Who else would have engaged a failed manager

@fillmyboots you are right to expect more including silverware, but IMO not under McLeish. He is not able to command the level of respect to attract real big players to the squad, and Lerner needs to free up some cash to allow decent purchases while they are still midtable. Any lower down at end of season and the players will want to leave, not join....

Villa will be fine - they have a squad albeit heskey up top but should win one game in the next 3/4 which will push them well clear- don't forget 3 teams need to get ahead of villa- just ant see that happening

@gazpenk Well every Villa fan knows that. With the current squad we don't expect anything this season or the next. I am just saying those of us who pay the wages expect more.

Problem is those of us who pay the wages are diminishing fast. I can remember not so long ago every home match was a sell out but now we regularly have 10/11 thousand empty seats. Says it all really

@fillmyboots Every team wants silverwear but given Villa's current position, I really really really doubt it. th cobwebs will continue to muster in Villa's trophy cabinet i'm afraid.

@Hybridism At the mo midtable is all that Villa are good for and it seems Lerner is happy with that. WE, the fans, without which the club would not exist, want MORE. We want silver in the cabinet like everyone else.

Villa still have adequate attacking options that surpass any team in the bottom half of the table.

Look at the bottom three as it stands - dire.....even if Bent wasn't at Villa they would be safe, but McLeish definitely needs firepower if he wants a midtable result - like @CheeseOnMyToad says they haven't got it all hard in the upcoming games.

@RowanCharlieGee I second that and I have never rated Agbonlahor either.

I've never rated Bent very highly tbh anyway, but I don't think Villa will go down

Well I'm not Darren Bents biggest fan but i'm looking more towards Euro2012...now England are up the creek with nothing but a Welbeck shaped paddle to guide us through....we're doomed before we've even began.

Next 5 games are Newcastle, Liverpool, Everton, QPR & City. So ur looking at least 5 points there, which would put them on 38 points. And the remaining 7 games leaves them only needing 2-4 points to guarantee safety. I think they will stay up quite comfortably.
