Can LVG get Manchester United into the the top 4

Another new season is about to begin can LVG get United in top form again. Can they win the PL or will they finish top 4 or even worse. To be back in the the 4 i would be happy with that. What do you think where will United finish?

@Dent_Ford Herrera looks like a gem and Fletcher and Young (yes Young) have been like new signings. Young seems like he's the one getting the most out of the new system that Van Gaal is employing, he'll play both wing back positions and that "no. 10 role" in an emergency. I've been really impressed, just hope he stays on his feet. He also seems to have uncovered a gem in Tyler Blackett. Not to mention player of the tournament Wayne Rooney and Mata having a fantastic time over there as well, the squad will go into the new season full of confidence, regardless of whether they were friendlies (though the Liverpool game seemed like anything but, such a high tempo game). United also have 8 very winnable games to set themselves up next season (though I don't expect them to win all 8).

Not saying he will, or he won't, BUT if the question is CAN he then the answer is yes... LVG is a World Class manager... I am amused at how essentially the same squad that won the trophy going away just 15 months ago (and with the addition of Juan Mata) is now being completely dismissed b/c they had a horrible year under a guy who didn't belong there... No offense to David Moyes who is a decent manager, but he wasn't big enough for the job... I'm not "reading" too much into the pre-season other than that they looked good against some decent teams, BUT I feel a hell of a lot better about where they are going into this year than I did about how they were last August...

@releasethekraken usually not but I'm encouraged by the way the team is taking to a totally new formation. I don't see why not this group of players won the league 2 seasons ago I do think they need to sign a defender to lead the back line though and that player is not vermaelen

Manchester United did lose many games last year and they were poor. But they would only need to improve a little to beat those teams this year. A bigger improvement would see them back in the top 4. After that who knows what can happen also their mental strength should be much better this year.

@Doozers20 can't take anything from preseason really. i think expecting a title challenge from united is just setting yourself up for disappointment to be honest. i am worried about united finishing above us if we don't get an adequate suarez replacement though.

@releasethekraken I've watched every united game of pre season and I'm positive. I backed moyes to the hilt last year but I think I was wrong. Van gaal seems to be getting good quality out of ashley young at wing back! I honestly thin United will challenge for the title next season. Fletchers looking like a new player too. I won't get too excited its only pre season but a far better one than last year.

They definitely can, but i'm not sure they will. many people are getting carried away with them not being in europe and are just expecting them to get top 4 and maybe even challenge for the title. not that easy, people are quickly forgetting just how poor they were last season. think van persie's fitness will make a massive difference, some people have forgotten just how good he is.

have to wait to see how liverpool and united look by the end of the transfer window as i think it'll be between them for 4th. everton have a chance too now that they have signed lukaku. maybe spurs too but i'd have them as outsiders.
