Chelsea tell Mata he can leave as Man United interest increases

Chelsea have reportedly told Juan Mata he can leave the club, with Manchester United interested in signing the Spaniard. However, he can not leave for any less than £35million. Could he ever join Man United? I doubt Chelsea would let him join another English club. Atletico Madrid would be a more realistic destination, they are one of a few Spanish clubs interested.

@brightside_94 and Jones should be a centre back and only that.

@brightside_94 I'm hoping for 3 number 10's behind the striker like I mentioned below, winger or midfielder would be a waste.

Hoping Powell gets some opportunities next season or a loan to a premier league club.

After all this forgetting about Nick Powell, seems to have an attacking role at Wigan?

@Doozers20 behind the striker or midfield or winger, jones situation but no. 10 position is the best, only time will tell

@brightside_94 his attributes are nowhere near what is required for a winger... Barely any pace but good at quick passing and little slide through balls.

Put it this way, I can't see Mata knocking the ball past a full back and whipping a cross in, just as much as I can't see Kagawa doing it.

@Jonevarro the most he's had is 4 games in a row, the others are sporadic and it's hardly going to help him gain a bit of consistency and confidence, it's clear who Mourinho shows the 'love' for and it's not Mata.

I'm not arguing with you about whether he's been bad or good this season, I'm sure you know more than me and I put Oscar in my 'team of the halfway point' on here so I know he's been good, but equally so Mata was better last season.

My only point is that should this come off, United are getting a quality player and I don't think that can be denied. From last season where he was played consistently, I think that he is Chelseas 2nd best player and he would be 2nd on the Spain team sheet in my opinion too.

@Doozers20 I hope so but why not Mata on wing?

@brightside_94 my feeling is a Rooney contract extension, just a feeling though.

@brightside_94 If Mata is used on the wings I will lose all hope.

@Jonevarro yes but when a quality player like Mata becomes available, you have to take it. United aren't exactly creating a massive amount too, but I put some of that down to the tactics. I think a front 4 of these 5 players Januzaj, Kagawa, Rooney, Mata, Van Persie sounds quality but more likely 2 or 3 of these will play with Young and Valencia!

I think only a central midfielder is NEEDED personally to help put a good run together for the top 4, happy with the centre backs and Evra until the summer, though I'd prefer a left back to come in.

Thing I don't get is, United need a CB, CM or LB yet spend £37m on a CAM... Seems a bit odd

This is a good surprise, I also heard of Owen's tweet too.

@Doozers20 Oscar has been better than him this season, that's the plain truth! 13 starts is enough game time to prove his worth as well and he didn't do enough. £55m in, £32m out. Not a bad window.

Still can't believe Chelsea agreed to sell him to another English club, especially Man United.

@Jonevarro noone can fault jose looking at results but doesn't negate matas class and how good he has been

@Doozers20 in fairness he's been pretty poor when played. It's a shame but we've had our best form without him. Jose knows what he is doing. There's a reason he's the best manager in the world.

@Jonevarro lol bench player in 1 persons mind only. Guess he's the only one who counts though.

Chelsea player of the year 2 years in a row and still not hit peak

Farewell Mata. You have served us well. £37m for a bench player seems like a decent deal to me, just a shame it's United. Suppose means more money can go on a ST/other players in the summer.
