David Beckam retires!

Davyd Beckham has retired. He's a hömosexual who played football. Well, lets be honest, he retired many years ago, just like Michael Owen did.

@james2504 I'm not sure the last 5 years, if he'd have stayed at the top level I still think he would have been good for a while longer. Didn't have a bad game when I saw him against Barca though this season.

@Doozers20 yeah maybe so, I'm not doubting how good he was, he just never wanted to admit he was useless for the last 5 or so years.

@james2504 harsh to call him a turd to be honest.

About time too. Been past it for years but just wouldn't go away. Footballs unflushable turd.

Doesnt actually get the credit he ever deserved, he was such a hard worker and and he had to develop and work on his talent constantly. He is a global superstar but also a great role model for young players to aspire to be

@owonefi7 like I said, better for longer, not many teams I wouldn't have put Beckham in between 1999 and 2001, he also got into many top sides in his career though I think he peaked early and wasn't as good after he left United, barring a 6 month period where he helped Real massively to win the league.

@Doozers20 Scholes was the better player though, no question, he could've played in any team at his peak on footballing ability, not ability to sell shirts

@owonefi7 Scholes was better for far longer, I think Beckham had a couple of better seasons though.

@Doozers20 he was voted such because of the overhype and the media, I remember how much he and van nistelrooy contributed to the title in 2003, he was a fine player, overhyped by the media. For me, Scholes was better

@owonefi7 I'm not saying he was in my opinion but he was voted such and in those 4 years I personally felt he was world class, definitely Uniteds player of the year in 1999 for me.

@Doozers20 he was never, at any point, the second best player in the world

@slufsar not the whole reason though. Beckham was quality in that period not sure how that can be denied.

@Doozers20 Media hype definitely contributes in the world player of the year votings

Big respect and gratitude to that man. He was 1 of the reasons I liked football when I was younger!

@owonefi7 twice runner up in world player of the year shows it was more than just the media. He was immense in the period between 1999 and 2003. Also when he won the league for Madrid he made a massive impact after being dropped for the 1st half of the season

Don't know how he will cope. I mean it's not like he's got his own clothing line and does well paid adverts. He'll have to start advertising for Safe Style in order to balance the books I reckon.
