Fernando Torres

Still perplexed at how bad he's become. And even though he forced a move to one of our fiercest rivals it does make me sad to see him as he is now. Doesn't ever even look that interested playing for Chelsea. My question is though - do you think Torres regrets the move from Liverpool to Chelsea? He's won plenty of trophies since joining Chelsea and I'm sure he earns a lot more but has looked a shadow of his former self and as a result hasn't been first choice consistently - had he stayed at Liverpool he'd have been playing in far worse teams, probably still finishing 6th and 7th, but would still have been the main man and would still be adored by the fans. He just doesn't have that at Chelsea now (mainly due to his own sh!t performances might I add). Do the trophies he's won at Chelsea make up for the 3 and a half years of playing terribly at a terrible club in front of terrible fans? I'll bet he regrets it now. And as a Liverpool fan I certainly regret it. Even though he was clearly getting worse, he was still scoring goals for us despite playing in what was clearly a poor team. And that 50 million was wasted in the end. Would have liked to see him play with Suarez. Still kind of miss him. Interested to hear your opinions.

I think Suarez may have revitalised him a bit, he has never been the same player since WC 2010 tbh.

@mrsentah I only remember him being poor for the 6 months before he joined Chelsea?

He was poor for a while under Liverpool. He only ever performed against Chelsea.

@Doozers20 Criticized and ridiculed by most. Seen as a flop. Fans patience wearing thin. Playing time dropping. May be sold at the end of the season. He personally cannot be happy with the way he is playing, no amount of trophies is going to change that.

@MB_Ktubes I'm sure he realises this as he looks at his medals.

He's dead to me. Don't miss him and we got good money so couldn't care less. I'm sure he has realized his error.

Was actually thinking about doing a Torres post but looks like you beat me to it @releasethekraken I may not be a Liverpool fan but I must admit that Torres was and still is one of my favourite players, when he plays at his best, on the shoulder of the last defender he is one of the best strikers out there. I think he's been bogged down with injuries largely which has drained his confidence not just in his footballing ability but in his physical ability, unsure whether he can rely on his body or not. It didn't help that he dropped a few clangers along the way like that miss vs Man U back in 2011 and the price tag has given him plenty of criticism. I'd say that he has improved quite a bit this season and is scoring quite a few more than we expected but he is most certainly on his way out. At the age of 30, I reckon he's got maybe 2/3 seasons left at Chelsea if not less then I reckon he'll return to Spain. Would love to see him play for Norwich even in a few years when he's over the hill though, as unlikely as it is to happen

@Doozers20 No, I'm pretty sure the deals were agreed on the same day, at the end of the January transfer window. Negotiations to buy Suarez did start before Torres' transfer request but who's to say that the club weren't aware of Torres's desire to leave.

@releasethekraken I think Suarez already had signed.

@paulison Suarez was bought before Torres to Chelsea was even mentioned.

@paulison suarez was going to sign anyway. that deal was lined up way before the whole torres thing, it was the carroll deal that depended on torres leaving.

I'm sure he misses Gerrard! The money we got for him wasn't completely wasted - it did buy us Suarez. I doubt he would have been any happier at Liverpool and he would, most certainly, have been poorer in terms of trophies and money. As regards Liverpool, I think we are in a better place then we would have been had he stayed but he did us proud and I am sad that it hasn't worked out for him. He always was a victim of his own confidence level and that has just declined since he joined Chelsea.

Terrible fans? We've been pretty understanding with him considering how ##### he's been. I know so many Torres fan boys, even now.

Agree he's fallen drastically but doubt Mourinho constantly criticising him has helped him this season

I think he was on a downward spiral at liverpool he may have done a bit better in terms of goals but he never would have been the same player anyway and he has a few trophies to look back on now that he probably wouldn't have had. Also who's to say rogers would have fancied him? I doubt he will regret it too much.
