It would be better for united to lose in the semi final second leg agaisnt Sunderland

After watching uniteds last 5/6 games and city's last 4, I honestly think we would be better off being knocked out in the semis, if we play city at Wembley we will get absolutely slaughtered... While we are struggling against the likes of Sunderland and Swansea, city are picking teams apart and really starting to find some form.. They have world class players in every area of the pitch, can you imagine smalling and Evans trying to defend agaisnt Negredo, dzeko, aguero, silva.... Usually I think we have a chance agaisnt the other top teams but at present we just aren't good enough

Yes not for United but for Sunderland because Moyes needs to win a trophy and realisticly United arn't going to win the Prem knocked out of the FA cup but Sunderland need it but even if Sunderland beat United they will lose to City

@TittleTan again, I don't think I put my point across in the right way.. I'm not saying I want us to go out, more that it will be more damaging to get hammered by city then to lose to Sunderland... Obviously I want us to be in finals and to win ####

A cup final is a cup final, isn't that what this game is about ? winning trophies ?

@jimbo1984 I think that comes with having a leader next to them too saying that though bringing in a defender and having jones next to him leaves them as back up defenders don't usually peak until late 20s and smalling has a long way to go until then. I wouldn't be opposed to evans and a new defender with Jones in front of them allowing the full backs to bomb forward with him slotting into the middle of the 2 Centre backs

@Doozers20 i would have jones as a centre half over Evans and smalling.. He is a bit rash sometimes and makes the occasional dodgy tackle but smalling and Evans seem to have no sense of positioning... They have been culpable for so many goals this season just from ball watching and not keeping with their man... I know you rate smalling but for me he has been our least effective defender this seasons.. Shows potential going forward but defensively he needs to improve big time

@jimbo1984 I still think a solid centre mid will take the pressure off the defence, I think the defence has looked better with Jones in front of it the majority of the time this season, but I think a commanding centre back who will be a leader in the back line is required in the summer, to play with Jones if he is asked to play centre back, or Evans if Moyes wants Jones in midfield. I don't agree that Smalling is taking steps back either.

@Doozers20 sme squad but vidic and rio have barely played this season, and Evans form is similar to how it was 3 seasons ago, Evra has lost his pace and Rafael is alway injured aswell.. Add that smalling taking steps backwards in his progression, jones picking up injuries... Out whole defence is in tatters... It's got to the point when it's not surprising when we go 1-0 down.. I'm making a fortune on bets by putting both teams score in united games as it happens every game... That is the area that need addressing most urgently in my opinion.. If we stop conceding all the time we will start to find our feet again

@crackentone it's the same squad as last season...

You guys have misinterpreted my meaning.. I'm not wishing that we get knocked out, my points is just that losing over two legs to Sunderland wouldn't be as damaging as traveling to Wembley on getting hammered by city.... I honestly think of we get to the final and get beat heavily then moyes will get sacked... Obviously of like to get to a final and win it but on current form we don't look capable of beating top teams....

@Doozers20 IMO 4th place is not impossible,,,,,But there is a big danger United will fail to finish in the top 4. This current squad is very poor, you just have to look at their current position and the calibre of clubs that have beaten Utd. You have to agree Man Utd have made a specticular collapse.

No matter what the circumstances a cup final against your biggest rivals should always be something to look forward too, not hoping you get knocked out in the semis off the team bottom of the league so you don't get shown up, sweet Jesus..

Can't believe what I'm reading! Are you guy actually fans of Man U or what? Now I know why your called glory hunters! In the space of six months you've gone from title winners to being ok to losing to Sunderland... SUNDERLAND! Come on lads I know your going through a rough time I'm an arsenal fan and we've had a good five years of feeling crap not spending any money or winning any trophies but at no point would I have wanted to avoid any team for fear of getting battered. Anyway you make it sound like losing to City is some great shame you've been beating them for the last 30 years! And don't you think it would look worse at the end of the season if Sunderland get relegated and you got knocked out by them? When we lost 8-3 or whatever the score was (I've erased that day from my memory) to United it was half as hard to take as losing to Birmingham in the carling cup final! Look I find it hilarious that Man U are struggling but come in guys this is when you need to get behind your team, most of you guys are quite young and haven't experienced your team doing badly which I understand can come as a shock but your going through what ALL clubs have been through at some point in their history, suck it up support your team win lose or draw and never wish for a loss for fear of failure it's pathetic!

Also, they are crushing teams at the Etihad, at other grounds they aren't as potent, and this won't be at the Etihad.

@crackentone you saying 4th place isn't possible then?

@jimbo1984 I'm not having that United will 100% get hammered, what bottom side have United been beat off bar West Brom? City, Liverpool, Everton, Spurs and Newcastle are doing pretty well this year, granted United should not be losing many of them games but they're hardly the same as getting knocked out off the side that are rock bottom.

United should never go into a game with the attitude you have, no matter what form they are in.

@jimbo1984 getting it by a rival is surely damning but not reaching to them by losing to a team that's easily crushable is not harsh, isn't it?

I'm not saying we should try and not qualify, just that going out to Sunderland will be less harsh than getting dicked by city in the final...

@Doozers20 we keep losing to these sides anyway.. If we play city at Wembley and they put 4 or 5 past is moyes will be gone...
