Liverpool announced that Raheem Sterling has signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool that will end reportedly on 2017.

I think this is great news for us, as Sterling has been a great revelation for us this season, and he has no doubt a high potential to be a world class player in the future.

@James I didn't say I wanted him at Chelsea ? Clearly, that won't happen now as Rafa is using squad rotation unlike Robbie did ..

@TittleTan If Marko Marin isn't getting a game then Sterling wouldn't even make the bench. @KingDaniel The decision for his kids is probably what he has done considering both Children are to different mothers and they are both located around the Liverpool area so moving away to London would not have been a decision based on his children. @owonefi7 the lads young, name me a player of that age who doesn't need to work on their end product. Every player would improve their end product lets be honest. He has time on his side.

@owonefi7 Walcott actually has a good end product, and Arsenal are all about the money men too, they break even every year without progressing.

Nobody has any idea how many kids he got. All the numbers are just twitter rumours. People will believe anything.

He had to make the correct decision for his children. End of. Football is just a sport he is father so if Chelsea or United offered more money he should have went. But hey ho. Who am I to judge

@MillwallDon When the contract expires in the summer of 2017, he will still be 22 years old. Thats when most players start moving if their club isnt performing to their standard. So yeh, it makes perfect sense with so many years.

@TittleTan actually no he would rot in the bench, he'll probably be loaned out to other clubs, I don't think you will need a player like Raheem, you need a new striker

@Russel Rot on Chelsea's bench ? Considering we have a small squad, yeah he definitely would

@Russel I'm not complaining about that I just don't think he should be signing for 5 years as in a couple he will have much better opportunities

His end product and passing need working on, otherwise he will be the next lennon/ Walcott, the long contract does, of course, give Liverpool the option of cashing in too, should man city/ PSG come calling with an insane offer, that's always on the minds of the money men at Liverpool or indeed any club (except arsenal)

@MillwallDon of course, what 18 year old would want to play football? He should just go to Man City or Chelsea and rot on the bench instead of playing to improve, bad decision by Sterling
