Liverpool to bid for Will Hughes

The Independent reports that Liverpool are close to sealing a deal for Will Hughes that will take him back to the Championship side on loan.

The paper claims: 'Hughes has been watched extensively over the last six months by Liverpool's chief scout, Barry Hunter. The teenager's performances have merited the attention of all the leading Premier League clubs, including Manchester City and Arsenal, but it is Liverpool who are prepared to pay the premium price for an English talent and leave him at his current club to develop for another year.'

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail reports that Liverpool have turned down a £10million bid from Napoli for Mrtn Skrtel.

@paulison He's back at Corinithians which makes it a little easier to sign him, as for El Shaarawy I think he could he snapped up for just over 20m, would he buy into the Rodgers revolution? probably not.

He's a good young player but Derby want £15million

@James Nice goal poacher but isn't he back in Brazil?

@James That is a real good spot and would fill the hole nicely - in fact he ticks all the boxes. Is he likely to move? If so then probably around 20 million?

@Baldersmith Is that why Enrique was so keen on bringing him in?

@paulison Cheeky bid for Pato would be favoured as well, a nice little £15m bid test the waters

@paulison If i was Rodgers I would break the bank for El Shaaraway now before his price rockets...

@paulison I always thought Eriksen looked like a bit of a homosexual. Probably why no one is interested.

@James I agree with that with Aspas, Sterling on the bench and then Borini, Ibe and Alberto as squad players to mix it up the forward line if/when necessary. I still feel we need a first choice player with more creativity and goals and the hole is definitely on the wing, imho.
I was wondering about Eriksen - he was hot property in the Spring and yet no-one seems to want him now.

@paulison Whats the best realistic team we can hope for that will push for top 4? Mignolet - Johnson - Agger- Kolo - Cissohko/Enrique - Gerrard - Lucas/Allen/Henderson - (New Player) - Coutinho - Suarez - Sturridge ...... I still think Rodgers is going to look for that wide player he keeps talking about. I wonder whats up with Erikson, everyone is keeping a wide birth

@releasethekraken Yeah, we differ on that one because I would like to see an attack minded midfielder or winger before another CB (notwithstanding Coates injury). We do agree concerning another CDM (and that it is unlikely). I have no problem with building slowly but I do consider that we should be looking to mount a serious challenge for a top four finish this year (even if we fall slightly short) and I am not sure how confident I am that we have the side to do that. It goes without saying that losing Suarez this late in the window would also cripple us.

@paulison i don't mind not making a marquee signing - if the price is too much then fair enough - and besides, i think we'll struggle to attract the top players at this stage. i just want us to strengthen the areas in the first XI/first team squad that need strengthening - which to me are defensive mid (although clearly not going to happen) and centre back. then maybe an attacker but that's not priority IMO.

@releasethekraken I didn't know he was a Liverpool fan. I know most people think this is irrelevant but I like to see it. Ten Million has got to be a joke. Did you read the latest interview with BR? He does seem to confirm that he has been serious about some of the rumored signings and that deals have not gone through because they were "possibly too ambitious" (??!!). I guess that translates to "more than we could/would spend". No more mention of definitely getting a marquee signing, although Willian hasn't yet confirmed to Spurs (maybe he asked to see their trophy cabinet and is having second thoughts).

I've heard he's a promising young player but have never seen him. sending him back on loan is definitely the correct move. he's a liverpool fan too, not that that is relevant but hey... 10 million for a championship youngster is a lot though... especially as i think we need to be spending money on players who can help the team now, as that's what brendan has been saying we'll do since early july. but i'll wait and see who else if anyone comes in in the next 2 weeks - i have no problem with us signing a young talent like this so long as it doesn't use up funds for older players who can strengthen our team for the 13/14 season.

As long as he's loaned back it would be a good signing but fear Liverpool might end up being the new Arsenal by only signing potential for the future.

He is an exciting talent. Won't believe a word until I see confirmationon the LFC website but the loan-back is a very wise first step.

Great talent but I don't want to rush him like we did with Jonjo Shelvey.
