Liverpool's No. 2

De Vries is set for a move to Liverpool to be understudy to Reina in a move worth £750,000. De Vries will link up with Rodgers once again. This will see Doni exit the club and will cast doubt over Brad Jones. Do you think this is a good move?

Good player unlucky at wolves but a bit slow with high balls

No way. Doní is a fantastic second-choice goalkeeper, and Brad Jones is coming on very well. But, for £750,000, it could be seen as a lucrative bargain.

To me it would be a waste of good potential for him to be sat bench warming every game. Let's face it Reina isn't going to be budged from the No. 1 spot. Any keeper should want to be playing so signing for someone who needed a new quality number 1 like say West Ham, Southampton or Reading for the prem season would be a better choice.

@James i'd sign him and loan him out. Cheaper than waiting till he gets better and is established

@TheDannyGordon I think he will get a shot at Birmingham this year.

Is it? He played in league 2. Learning from Reina is better than Boaz Myhill

@TheDannyGordon It would stall Butlands development, he would be a better option but its better for him to stay where he is.

Surely Butland is a better option

He was ace for Swansea before he oddly chose to move to Wolves ahead of playing for Swansea. He's a Rodgers man or at least was. I would rather us by a young goalkeeper than another stock gap keeper.

@Doozers20 Doni was once considered as a brilliant keeper, he was expected to battle Reina for the first team slot but it never happened, he wants first team football now he is getting on a bit and his attitude has seen Peter Gulasci who is very young come up the pecking order and be battling him and Jones. Next season i think the pecking order will be Reina, De Vries, Jones/Gulasci. Jones has been through a lot the last few years with his sons illness which may be why he has not had as much time as he would have liked.

Was Doni not a decent keeper for his old club before he came to Liverpool as obvious back up to Reina? Better than De Vries?
