Merseyside Derby

Massive game, most important derby in years. Both teams chasing fourth, if Liverpool win they'll go 4 points clear of Everton.

I am very concerned about this game, we have a massive injury crisis - our entire first choice back 4 is injured, as well as 2 of our 4 senior central midfielders (unless Joe Allen recovers in time which is unlikely). So we will most likely be forced to play a 2 man central midfield of Henderson and Gerrard, which worries me as in my opinion Gerrard can only play in a 3 man midfield in the big games now. I think he's too slow nowadays to play in a 2 man midfield. So I think Everton's midfield will have the better of ours. Just got to hope Sturridge and Suarez can produce some magic and that our dodgy back 4 has a decent game. Only consolation is that Everton have injuries too, Coleman is out and I think Barkley is out too. Barkley would be a real miss for them, he ran through our midfield so many times in the game at Goodison.

My prediction is a dodgy 2-2 draw, but wouldn't be surprised to see all 3 results. Merseyside derbies have tended to be quite boring over the years, but as the 3-3 draw in 2013 showed, I think things are changing, especially since Martinez took over from Moyes. I don't think we'll see Everton parking the bus at Anfield today like they did a few times under Moyes. Should be a great game but I'm very worried about it! Would take a draw now if I'm honest.

@paulison We dent deserve nothing today we just scored a goal and basically camped in our own box. We are the kings of anti football. I'm not paying for a season ticket next year if lambert thinks long ball and negative football is the way forward. Against west Brom they had most the possession we just scored all of our goals from long balls to Benteke.

@Villa-Rich We were more in need of a CDM but any depth to the squad would have been welcomed. From what I read, Ayre wasn't necessarily to blame though - it sounded more like a bit of last minute blackmail which the club weren't prepared to tolerate. Thanks for letting that lead slip today, by the way!!

@Villa-Rich You know, I think you might have a point. It seems that the big clubs in this country consistently get favourable decisions, wield their economic and political power to procure success and are just sucking all sense of fair competition right out of the game ......... oh, and they are also supported by a bunch of ignorant couch potatoes who are lacking the passion to support their own local clubs.

@Villa-Rich Grooooan! You must do better with the jokes. I share Kraken's concern after a very poor defensive performance, I can see possession problems in midfield tonight turning in to goal scoring opportunities for the blue noses. A draw doesn't help either of us but I would take it.

I can see it being a very sticky affair tonight for Liverpool losing to the Toffees.
