Liverpool dominate the nominees with 4 players being nominated across both awards. The reds have captain Steven Gerrard and their strike partnership of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge nominated for the top award with Sturridge along with England team-mate Raheem Sterling also being nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year. The other nominees for the PFA Player of the Year include Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, Chelsea winger Eden Hazard and Southampton captain Adam Lallana with Hazard also being nominated for the Young Player of the Year as well. Ross Barkley, Luke Shaw and Aaron Ramsey make up the rest of the nominees for the Young Player of the Year. So what do you think of the nominees? Worthy? and notable absentees? @Jonevarro yeah I'd have Azpilicueta right back, Shaw left back. I went a bit far though, I do rate Ivanovic and Cole is still good defensively. I definitely reckon Shaw would push for a spot though. I also wouldn't say significantly better, in fact I put Shaw in my team of the season.

@Doozers20 considering Azpi is our current LB and Azpi is significantly better

@TheWelshDragon I'd have him over Cole and Ivanovic now.

@TheWelshDragon 18 years old, regular left back for Southampton since 17, who have had their best season ever in the Premier League. He's also been one of the best left backs in the country this year in my opinion, and is on the fringes on of the England team. For me he'd start in any team in the country bar Everton.

@Doozers20 I don't get all the hype around Shaw?

@releasethekraken he may have had a better 3 or 4 months (I personally thought he was playing really well, not as exceptional as others were saying though) , the season is 9 months long, he may have been unlucky to get the injury, but in my opinion the player of the season plays in the majority of the season... I'd say I preferred Sterling in the last 4 months than I did Ramsey in the first 4. Hazard massively deserving of the award though.

@Doozers20 i'd say that ramsey has had a better season than all of them. have you forgotten how good he was in those months before he got injured?! he was phenomenal.

@TheWelshDragon No chance has he had a better season than Sterling, I wouldn't even say Shaw for that matter.

@Doozers20 Hazard is a good shout but Ramsey has had a better season than the other two.

@TheWelshDragon Ramseys half season is better than Hazards full season, Sterlings full season, Shaws full season? If you say so.

@Doozers20 His outstanding half season is much better than any other player I can think of.

Suarez and Hazard it was. Deservedly so for both.

@TheWelshDragon so it's biased to go against a player that has played half a season?

Aaron Ramsey and Luis Suarez, but with the typical bias it will probably be Shaw and Gerrard.

My main argument is the same happens every year tbh last season Baines wasntin the shortlist yet was top full back by a country mile and again i am not saying Mertesacker is player of the year for me there is only guy who can get it and that is Toure but recognition would be good, thats across the board not just prem, i mean on a general level here, its not a dig at liverpool players but gerrard is just a no no for me he cant be in that list

@Doozers20 i thought it was fairly close between suarez, bale and van persie last year. wouldn't have argued with any of those 3 winning it.

@releasethekraken yeah I agree don't really care either nor should players at trophy challenging clubs. Suarez should win, he should have last year too.

@Doozers20 he won't win the PFA award, suarez has to be player of the year. but the football writers' one might be a bit different. there will always be a bias towards english players, especially the england captain. like a couple of years ago when brave scotty parker won it even though he was relegated with west ham. but either way i don't really care about the individual awards, not something i get particularly wound up about - if gerrard does win awards no one can begrudge him them.
