Salah prefers Chelsea to Liverpool

Months and months I've been hearing Salah to liverpool. After all the speculation and the fans saying they were gonna sign him he's gone to play for a bigger club than Liverpool, for Chelsea. Made me LOL!

Its been said already but I think he's made the wrong career choice by going to Chelsea. I would be very surprised if he breaks into the XI. He'll be a peripheral figure like Benayoun. Could have gone to Liverpool and been a hero. No doubt he wanted to go shopping at Harvey Nics...However, he is young so if it doesn't work out he can move on. Still think he made wrong decision.

Can't blame him really... Chelsea will win trophies and he will get paid more.. He will only end up getting his car nicked if he went to Liverpool

@releasethekraken the whole point is world wide. Chelsea have a lot of American and Asian fans. Due to touring there a lot and deals like the one we have with Samsung. We also have a big African following due to having several high profile African players down the years, e.g. Drogba, Essien, Kalou, etc. The data shows a huge gulf in fan base numbers not just a minor difference. Chelsea also have higher shirt sales than Liverpool. Another indicating factor. Maybe he thinks that he can genuinely displace one the the starters (Willian). The only pro at Liverpool would be more regular game time and that's only in theory. Chelsea have more likelihood of trophies and UCL.

@Jonevarro yes obviously champions league is a factor too, it's not just money. but i would think that someone in salah's position, knowing the wealth of talent that chelsea have in that area of the pitch, might have been swayed to join a club with which he'd have a better chance of playing regularly.

@Jonevarro well i can only go by what i see. and i know far more liverpool, united and arsenal fans than chelsea fans. and this site, although admittedly it is a small cross-section, has significantly more liverpool fans than chelsea fans. i also question the validity of that data, i mean, how do they count it? is it a survey? do they ask every single person on the planet which club they support? i find it hard to believe that chelsea has more fans, i have enough faith in humanity.

@Villa-Rich I'm gutted. He looks to be a class player but you've got to take your hat off to Mourinho for being the better negotiator. I'm sure the player was also swayed by the relative success enjoyed by the two teams in recent years and the relative quality of the current squads. I can't say I blame him - what I don't get is why he would chose to live in a shithole like London instead of God's Own Country!!!!

@Jonevarro who said players are just going for the money?

This players only going to chelsea for money is bollocks. It's not like we in trophies and are constantly in the UCL. I'm sure that's not a factor whatsoever. I forgot Liverpool have those things as well, oh wait...

@releasethekraken I've actually read on a couple of websites that chelseas world wide fan base is 2nd in england

Someone is saying chelsea have a bigger fan base than liverpool? hahahahahahahahah! where has that come from? i know barely any chelsea fans, it's all liverpool or man united, and sometimes arsenal. they are the 3 most supported by far. you can argue that chelsea being better than liverpool for a while makes them a bigger club, fine, it's all down to what you class as a 'big club' (i don't agree by the way, liverpool are much bigger than chelsea IMO) but no way do chelsea have a bigger fanbase, that's total b0llocks.

Hard to say whether he preferred chelsea to be honest, especially since liverpool never agreed a fee with basel because they were being too stingy. fair enough if he wanted to take the money, i can't blame him. i'm sure he'll enjoy his loan spell at vitesse arnhem next season.

@Jonevarro Though you are right about the fan base, maybe Chelsea are getting there and could be seen to be on a bigger level thinking about it, just always thought of Liverpool as bigger. I take traditions and number of trophies into consideration too which I still see Liverpool as stronger on.

I'd rather be better than bigger anyway.
