Shocking Utd perfmance!

Im sitting watching this awful game of football wondering what the hell is going on at Utd. I cant remember seeing Utd play as badly as this. It seems with Moyes its one step forward and two steps back.

The only chance I can recall is Welbecks back heel towards goal. Other than that its been pathetic. Abject. Wayward etc... etc...

  • No cohesion
  • No desire or purpose about the team
  • No communication
  • No leadership (Rooney as captain?!?! Give me a break!)
  • No creativity

I know they need to refresh their squad but they still have a team of international footballers. There is no excuse for this dire level of football.

Ferguson was great at bringing in surprise changes to ther starting line-up in games such as this. Its exactly the sort of game that Hernandez would have been given a chance to shine. Moyes just doesn't have the cahones or imagination to direct this club. Wake up Utd supporters. You're on a slippery slope.

Commentators, pundits and Utd fans are just too polite and loyal to admit that the club is in huge trouble. Its like everyone has their eyes wide shut. No one wants to be the 'bad guy' and be honest. It seems complacency has already settled in.

I don't really have a point to make or a question to ask but just felt compelled to state the obvious!!!

Very poor indeed, however, fans need to get behind Moyes, not fly planes with banners calling for his head over OT.

@Dent_Ford I don't see a pint in getting rid of moyes there's nothing left for this season except maybe champions league and I think he deserves to see that competition through.

This summer is crucial in regards to transfers. Gods deals need to be made to bring in good players in the right positions, and surplus players need to be cast off. The main issue I'm having with trusting Moyes is that if he ##### up this transfer window like he did last season, then we are already in for another season of mediocrity and below par performances. It's a huge risk putting the faith in Moyes to get something right that he's already messed up once before.

@Doozers20 I agree there's no point in SAF coming back, but someone would have to be the interim mgr til May/June IF (as was argued by several posters) Utd go ahead and cut DM loose right now--I'm still in the "give him some time" camp, but finding it ever more difficult to stay there given the awful performances this year--I am very interested to see what he and the new GM learned from the debacle that was last summer...

@Dent_Ford no point in bringing Fergie back, United are in no danger and unlikely to do anything this season. I think United could get anyone bar a select few in the summer.

I've come to the conclusion that regardless of what anyone says, DM is going nowhere for the near future--It will be a huge shock if they decide to scrap him now--His BIGGEST mistake (being a guy who had never won a major trophy) imho was to gut a backroom staff with an extremely good track record for guys with no 'skins' at all, but I think he's likely got another 9-12 months before he should start worrying (esp. how he and the new GM do in the summer)--My main concern in scrapping the Moyes Era so quickly would be...WHO (that's AVAILABLE) do you bring in to right the ship???--SAF returns a' la SMB in 1970-71, and see if you could lure a Klopp, or whoever, in the summer???

I've defended Moyes up until now but I'm sick to death of the guy now. He has to go. His tactics are too defensive and will never take us past 7th. Not only that but his tactics don't work for the players we have, and I'd rather see him go before most of the players in the team. As sad as it is to admit it, he will not be able to bring in the necessary talent and I don't think he's harsh enough to get rid of the #### players that are lingering in the squad. I seriously do not trust Moyes with £200 million. In my opinion we need to get rid of him now, and let the new manager get a taste of some competitive games before the end of the season, because as demonstrated with Moyes, pre-season games do not demonstrate what is needed at the club.

@jimbo1984 yes 80 crosses says it all, 80 predictable crosses, up until recently Uniteds ONLY form of attack was to hit it to the wings and cross the ball in.

United have managed a good number of crosses in many games this season, the problem is that tactic is too predictable for opponents, they pick United off and counter. Many teams play like that with the full backs bombing forward, I don't see why United couldn't with better midfielders and a better full back than Evra, Smalling should never play right back again once the season is out.

To be fair United gave a good performance against Olympiakos with wingers, so theres an argument for both, but they also played through the centre with Giggs too. Many people have also said Januzaj is a number 10, not a winger.

Put it this way, I'd rather see nice, intricate passing from Januzaj, Mata and Kagawa, than hopeful crosses from Young and Valencia, and I believe that this is the way Moyes is going. If we are going to continue with wing play, United need better quality wingers, players that aren't so predictable, Nani is one that is unpredictable, not seen much of Zaha, but Young and Valencia are far too predictable. I'd love to see someone like Reus or Di Maria come in, but that seems unlikely, particularly for Reus.

@Doozers20 80 crosses says it all.. Playing with proper wingers we managed 80 crosses.. Any normal day we would score 5..
I would rather have januzaj then young obviously but I'd rather we used wingers set up the way we did last night... When we have mata, welbeck, kagawa playing wide, either Evra Rafael or smalling end up thinking they are wingers and push too far forward without cover... Welbeck can't cross the ball, Evra can't cross the ball, smalling can't cross the ball..

The fact out best performances in your opinion have been agaisnt west ham and west brom tells us everything we need to know..

They are both very average teams and they are the only teams we have managed a half decent performance agaisnt..

@ossie he was constantly geeing the team up throughout the game... Rooney has one of the best disciplinary records in recent seasons!

@jimbo1984 I can't agree United have played better with Young and Valencia in the team, they both played in the 80 cross Fulham game, they've played in many of Uniteds terrible losses, for me Uniteds 2 best recent Premier League performances were West Brom with Januzaj, Rooney and Mata, and West Ham, with Kagawa, Mata and Young. Fergie played Welbeck in wide positions on numerous occasions last season too and it proved effective.

I've seen lots of people over the last month or so saying united fans are blind to what's happening at the club,,....??
I can't agree with that.. We are fully aware of what's going on..

We have no defence... Rafael has become to much of a liability, jones is retarded, rio should have retired, vidic doesn't want to be there, Evra thinks he's a winger and forgets to defend, Evans has always been back up, smalling isn't good enough.
A midfield trio of carrick cleverly and Fellaini --- speaks for itself --- 4 wingers at the club : Valencia, januzaj, nani, young.. Yet we insist on playing mata, welbeck, kagawa in wide positions...
The only games united look dangerous in are the games when we use wingers and stretch teams.. Young is useless but we play better when we have young and Valencia in the team...

Doesn't help that on numerous occasions when we have been playing terrible and losing, moyes has left it until 70-80 mins before making a change...

I was all for giving moyes at least 2 seasons but now you have to worry about the damage he will do over the summer...
Fellaini was a awful signing.. Mata was an unnecessary signing...

@ossie Roy Keane and Eric cantona were hardly known for their level headedness but both captained the club..
Keane being one of our most successful ever captains

We all knew United would be worse without Fergie but not that bad surely with a team that won the title they should be better. Moyes failing

@Doozers20 If Rooney 'was showing himself where others were static' then surely that unbalances the team as a whole? My comments about Rooney being an unsuitable captain were not related to his performance but more to do with his communication skills and ability to be a calming influence when necessary. He's not exactly known for being level headed!

@ossie I agree but you look at the midfield, Toure and Fernandinho v this seasons Carrick and Cleverley, only one winner, I did think United made a good fist of it 1st half though, City's movement up front is far, far better and is something United need to work on.

@Doozers20 I agree with you that City have a better team but Utd still have plenty of quality. Certainly enough to put up more of a fight last night.

@ossie you realise Fellaini was with Moyes at Everton? And played a different role, and Mata is still getting used to new surroundings, and a new style of play and is playing in a team massively lacking in confidence.

@crackentone Theres no excuse for losing them games, losing one or two of them is forgiveable, but losing them all is unacceptable and in the manner they have too. I wouldn't say it is over the top to want Moyes out after this season, like I said I'd like to see him given until christmas to rectify mistakes and work with players he's brought in, but if he's sacked on the final game of the season and someone else is brought in, I wouldn't be massively disappointed.
